Today I saw a trailer for a movie, a fairytale, based on real life horrors. As I watched it I couldn't help but feel repulsed by the truth of the content. And it was only the fairytale version. Imagine, what really happens.
I urge you to watch this film trailer, but please understand the emotional content before you do. I understand this movie was made for its shock value in the interest of abolishing human (child specific this case) trafficking, and its intention is to outrage us into action by playing on our emotional reaction. I'm neither agreeing with nor opposing this method, I'm only interested in seeing an end to slavery of all kinds and that starts with abolishing ignorance on the issue first. I think its high time we faced the reality of the situation and if we need to start with a fairytale version first, I'm ok with that.
